School Fencing Contractors in Yorkshire | Airedale Fencing

Real school fencing jobs, real challenges, and why experience matters when it comes to securing your school’s perimeter.

Keeping Schools Safe Across Yorkshire — One Job at a Time

When a school needs new perimeter fencing, they need more than just a contractor who can dig a hole and drop a post in.

They need someone who understands safeguarding. Someone who works cleanly and safely around children and staff. Someone who can adapt when the ground throws up a surprise — a buried cable, a tree root, an awkward corner — and still deliver a result that looks professional and lasts.

That’s what Airedale Fencing has been doing for schools across Bradford, Leeds, Bingley, and the wider Yorkshire region for over 35 years.

Here’s a look at two recent school fencing jobs — and what they tell you about what really goes into securing a school perimeter properly.

Job 1: Trinity All Saints Primary School, Bingley — V-Mesh Perimeter Fencing

The Brief

Trinity All Saints Primary School in Bingley needed a new 2m V-mesh perimeter fence installed around the staff car park, plus an additional section around the back of the site where children had been climbing over a wall and getting into an area they shouldn’t.

The Challenge

The main run went in cleanly — posts dug, V-mesh fitted, job done in a day. But the back section presented a real problem.

Kids had been climbing up a wall, swinging around a corner, and walking along a ledge to get into a restricted area. The original plan from the office was to run a fence panel straight into the bushes and post into the dense vegetation.

When we got on site, it was clear that wasn’t going to work. The bushes were too dense to post into without cutting them back significantly — and cutting them back would create a weak point that kids could exploit to get through.

The Solution

After a conversation with the site caretaker, we found a smarter fix. There was already an existing fence panel buried in the bushes. Rather than cutting the vegetation back and creating a gap, we fastened a new panel to the existing fence and overlapped it into the bush — far enough out that any child trying to walk along the wall and swing around would go straight into the bush rather than around the fence.

Simple. Effective. No unnecessary cutting. No weak points created.

The caretaker was happy. The job was done properly.

What Was Installed

  • 2m V-mesh fencing around the staff car park
  • Additional security panel overlapping into existing vegetation at the rear
  • Problem-solving on site to find the most effective solution for the specific access issue

Job 2: Trinity All Saints Primary School, Bingley — Return Visit

The Brief

A return visit to the same school — this time to address a separate access issue at a different part of the boundary. The existing fence ended at a point where children were climbing up a wall, swinging around, and getting into an area used for football.

The Challenge

The fence simply ended. There was a short bow-top section but nothing to stop determined kids from climbing the wall and getting around it. The gap needed closing — but the dense bushes made a straightforward panel run difficult.

The Solution

After assessing the site and trimming the bush back just enough to work, the team ran a panel straight off the existing fence line and into the vegetation — overlapping into the bush to block the route without creating a new weak point.

Clean. Practical. Exactly what the school needed.

Why School Fencing Requires a Specialist Contractor

These two jobs illustrate something important: school fencing isn’t just about putting panels in the ground.

It requires:

Safeguarding awareness. Every decision on a school site has to consider child safety — not just during the installation, but in the finished result. A fence that creates a new weak point or a climbable surface isn’t a solution.

On-site problem solving. Ground conditions, existing structures, vegetation, buried services — school sites are rarely straightforward. An experienced contractor adapts. An inexperienced one either bodges it or walks away.

Clean, professional working. Schools are live environments. Work needs to be carried out safely, tidily, and with minimal disruption to the school day.

Compliance knowledge. School perimeter fencing needs to meet specific height and specification requirements. We advise on the right product for every situation.

School Fencing Products We Install

2m V-Mesh Fencing
The most popular choice for school perimeters. Strong, low-maintenance, and available in a range of colours including black and green. Provides a secure boundary without the aggressive appearance of anti-climb products.

358 Anti-Climb Mesh
For higher-security areas — particularly secondary schools, sixth form colleges, or sites with specific security requirements. Tight apertures make it virtually impossible to climb or cut.

Bow Top Railings
A traditional, attractive option for school frontages and entrances. Provides a clear boundary without an institutional appearance.

Single and Double Leaf Gates
All our school fencing installations include properly specified gates — pedestrian access gates, vehicle gates, and emergency exit gates where required.

Electric Gates and Access Control
For schools requiring controlled vehicle access, we supply and install electric gate systems with intercom, keypad, or fob access.

What Our School Clients Say

The best endorsement we get is repeat business and referrals. Trinity All Saints is a perfect example — a return visit based on the quality of the first job, with the caretaker actively involved in finding the best solution for the school.

We’ve worked with schools across Bradford, Leeds, Bingley, Saltaire, and the wider Yorkshire region — and the vast majority of our school work comes through word of mouth and local authority recommendations.
